This preset uses reentrant high G4; low-G instruments need a different G target.

Understanding the result

The targets use common reentrant high-G tuning: G4 C4 E4 A4. Cents show how far the played string is from the selected target.

How to use this tool

  1. Choose G, C, E or A.
  2. Play just that string.
  3. Turn the peg slowly until the reading is centered.

Troubleshooting

  • Select and play one string while muting the other three.
  • If the G target seems an octave too high, check whether your instrument uses a low-G setup.

Browser and device limitations

The G target is for high-G tuning; low-G instruments should use G3 in the Chromatic Tuner.
